London Marathon Sponsor

A member of the Society’s Marketing team will be taking part in the London Marathon this April, before setting his sights on the New York Marathon in November.

Michael Yearsley, the Society’s Graphic Designer, is running on behalf of St David’s Hospice Care in support of a friend who has benefited from the services of the Newport-based palliative care charity.

St David’s Hospice Care is committed to providing bespoke, individual care for their patients and their families. They work alongside patients, helping to support them at the most difficult times of their lives.

The London Marathon is one of Britain’s greatest sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. The course covers a gruelling 26 miles and 385 yards, passing through the streets of London from Blackheath to the famous finish line at The Mall.

The New York City Marathon courses through the five boroughs of New York City, and is the largest marathon in the world. The event is amongst the pre-eminent long-distance annual marathons in the United States and is one of the World Marathon Majors.

Michael said: “I’m thrilled to be taking on the challenge of two of the most respected running events in the world in one year, especially since I’ve only been taking running seriously over the past two years. I’m honoured to be able to raise funds for such a wonderful charity, and I have witnessed first-hand the essential support and care they carry out day in day out.”
