The Society has once again pledged its support to Newport and District Cricket League, following over fifteen years of consecutive sponsorship.

With eighteen teams currently playing in the League, the Society’s sponsorship has been pivotal in keeping the costs of the club to a minimum, allowing them to maintain low charges for their members and ensure maximum participation levels.

Mike James, Chairman of the League commented on the ongoing sponsorship: “Without the support of Monmouthshire Building Society we would find it very difficult to operate in the current financial climate. The sponsorship allows us to charge our players a nominal amount which prevents them from being inhibited to take part – benefiting their health and wellbeing, and also that of the wider community who get to watch us compete.”

Monmouthshire Building Society is committed to supporting the social and cultural life of communities in which it operates and such support is given to a number of organisations and activities, from sport and music, to theatre and the environment.

Andrew Lewis, Chief Executive of the Society commented: “As one of Wales’s leading financial institutions, we are committed to giving back to the communities within which we operate. We are proud to have sponsored Newport and District Cricket League for over fifteen years and we wish all the teams involved the best of luck for another successful season.”
