Monmouth Regatta

The Society has once again pledged its support to Monmouth Rowing Club and its annual Regatta for the 10th consecutive year.

Established in 1929, Monmouth Rowing Club is located close to the centre of Monmouth beside the beautiful River Wye. The thriving and successful club is inclusive of rowers of all ages with over 100 active members and is open every day of the week and caters for all abilities, from elite rowers to complete beginners.

The club hosts the increasingly popular Monmouth Regatta, which takes place on Saturday 24th May and Sunday 25th May 2014. Support from Monmouthshire Building Society is vital in order to keep general running costs to a minimum, without which the club would find it difficult to survive and organise events such as the Regatta.

Peter Scott, Chairman of Monmouth Rowing Club commented: “We are extremely grateful to Monmouthshire Building Society for their decade-long sponsorship, and the opportunities it provides for our members and the wider community, such as this year’s exciting Regatta. The support they provide to community groups such as ours is essential for us to continue as a viable rowing club and to bring people from Monmouth and afar together for what I hope will be another successful Regatta.”

Monmouthshire Building Society, which has a branch based at Agincourt Square, Monmouth, is a committed supporter of local life within the communities in which it operates. Such support involves a wide range of activities, ranging from the arts and the environment, to sporting and agricultural shows.

Andrew Lewis, Chief Executive commented: “The Society is committed to supporting and giving back to the local communities in which it operates. The Monmouth Regatta plays an important role in bringing together a wide cross-section of the community, and remains an important fixture in Monmouth’s social and cultural calendar. We wish all the participants and visitors to this year’s lively Regatta a wonderful time.”
