Society's Support Helps Sparkle Appeal Shine On

Sparkle Appeal

The Sparkle Appeal are pleased to have been presented with a cheque for almost £7,000 thanks to a unique partnership with Monmouthshire Building Society.

The Sparkle Appeal was launched by South Gwent Children’s Foundation in November 2003, and supports children and young people with a disability or developmental difficulty living in Newport, South Monmouthshire and South Torfaen and their families. Sparkle are based at the Serennu Children’s Centre in Newport, South Wales and provide facilities and activities for recreation, leisure, sport and family engagement.

The centre provides integrated care for local disabled children and their families, through treatments, therapies, support and advice, and a wide range of family, leisure and social activities, such as family swimming sessions, after school clubs and independent living skills, all under one roof.

The Sparkle Appeal was chosen by Monmouthshire Building Society to be an Affinity Instant savings account partner to help raise vital funds for their innovative and holistic services. The partnership enables supporters of the local Sparkle Appeal to help raise extra funds without even having to put their hand in their own pocket, and has raised almost £20,000 for the Sparkle Appeal since April 2009.

Supporters of the appeal can open the Affinity Instant account to build up their savings with a competitive rate of interest. Each year, Monmouthshire Building Society will make a donation to the appeal equivalent to 1% interest per annum of the daily balance held in their account. The more supporters save, the more money the appeal will receive.

Monmouthshire Building Society celebrated its 145th birthday earlier this year, and remains a competitive, secure and well managed mutual organisation, committed to its customers and the local community. The Society is proud to work in partnership with Gwent Sparkle Appeal to support its efforts through the Affinity account.

Lucy Holmes, Sparkle’s Business Development Manager, commented: ‘“We are extremely grateful for the Society’s continued support via the Affinity account. The Affinity Account has helped to raise almost £20,000 to date, and has allowed us to complete a range of projects that we would not otherwise be able to do. The donations are vitally important to ensure that our essential services are able to continue.”
