Valuing Your Property

The society only requires a market valuation of your property for mortgage purposes.  This is a professional opinion of the likely selling price of the property in its current condition in a normal market.  The inspection required for such a valuation is minimal and should not be relied upon to highlight defects and faults in the property.

There are other more detailed inspections which can be arranged such as a Home Buyers Report & Valuation or Building Survey.  You are strongly recommended to arrange a more in depth report and not rely on the Society's basic inspection.

More information on the types of survey available can be found on page 6 of our Mortgage Handbook.

Think carefully before securing other debts against your home.  Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
