Society Staff Dress Down to Donate to Wales Air Ambulance

Dress Down Day 20/02

This year, the Society has named Wales Air Ambulance as its Charity of the Year, and staff members across our entire branch and agency network are busy planning a wide range of fundraising activities to help support the life-saving Wales-wide charity.

During the 12-month partnership, the Society will raise funds to support Wales Air Ambulance’s emergency air cover provision across the entire length and breadth of Wales. They need to raise £6 million every year to operate the service, with each mission on average costing £1,500.

To kick off events, a dress down day is being held on 20th February, whereby all staff will make a donation to the charity in order to wear casual clothes for the day.

Commenting on the planned programme of activities, Chief Executive Andrew Lewis said: “Our dress down day is just one of many events planned for the year, and we’re using the day to kick-start the fundraising kitty before some of the more hair raising activities begin. The fact that Wales Air Ambulance attend upwards of 2,000 incidents each year whilst relying entirely on donations to fund their three helicopters based in North, Mid and South Wales makes me determined to pull out all the stops for this wonderful Welsh charity.”

Wales Air Ambulance Fundraising Manager, Mark Stevens, said: “Wales Air Ambulance relies entirely on the support of the public to carry out missions across Wales, and it’s heartening to see Monmouthshire Building Society get on board in such a committed way. We’re very excited to see what fun things they get up to over the year and we’re extremely grateful for their support.”
