Girls Football Donation

Maesglas Amazons Girls Football Club was recently awarded £920 match-funding by Monmouthshire Building Society Charitable Foundation to purchase complete football kits and footballs for their Under 14 and Under 16 teams.

The club provides opportunities for girls from the ages of 11 to 15 to train and play competitively in the South Wales Women’s and Girls’ Leagues.

The young footballers train at Maesglas Junior School and Maes Ebbw School, providing an opportunity to socialise in a safe environment whilst also keeping fit and active.

John Williams, Maesglas Amazons Girls Football Coach, commented: “Our young footballers were delighted to hear that we’d been awarded match-funding for new kit and balls. Having first class equipment means we’re able to compete with the best, and it’s great to see everyone taking pride in the team once again. We’re extremely grateful to the Charitable Foundation for the funding, and I would certainly encourage other charities and groups to apply too!”

Since its launch in 2000, Monmouthshire Building Society Charitable Foundation has contributed over £170,000 to 287 organisations and charities. In the last financial year alone, the Foundation provided support to 21 local organisations, representing a significant contribution to communities across South Wales.

The Foundation is happy to receive applications from all walks of life, such as sports groups, the environment, education and the arts. The Foundation also welcomes any donations or bequests from individuals.

Full information and guidance on how to apply can be found in the Foundation’s application form. Copies are available from any Monmouthshire Building Society branch or agency office, and can also be printed off from the ‘Community’ section of the Society’s website here.
