Cardiff City Football Club Foundation was recently awarded £625 match-funding by Monmouthshire Building Society Charitable Foundation to purchase new kits for their disability teams to wear at monthly regional and national competitions.

The Football Club Foundation is an independent charity that works in partnership with Cardiff City Football Club, using the power of sport and education to change lives.

Their Disability and Health Department deliver a number of impairment specific sessions to junior and senior players across Cardiff and South East Wales every week, focusing on improving the physical, mental and social skills of over a hundred disabled participants through football engagement.

Josh Law, Disability and Health Coordinator, commented: “Very often, the impairment sessions are the only source of physical activity that disabled players have throughout the week, and the sessions give them the opportunity to benefit from the social engagement and camaraderie that team sports have to offer. We’re indebted to the Charitable Foundation for their generous support which will allow us to continue to offer a first class service to all our members”.

Since its launch in 2000, Monmouthshire Building Society Charitable Foundation has contributed over £200,000 to more than 300 organisations and charities. The Foundation is happy to receive applications from a broad spectrum of community groups, such as sports groups, the environment, education and the arts. The Foundation also welcomes any donations or bequests from individuals.

Full information and guidance on how to apply can be found in the Foundation’s application form. Copies are available from any Monmouthshire Building Society branch or agency office, and can also be printed off from our website here.
