Billion Assets Achievement

The Society is pleased to announce the achievement of a major financial milestone – one billion pounds in assets.

This is a highly significant landmark within the Society’s history, and is the culmination of 145 years of effort, dedication and achievement for all the Society’s staff, both past and present. To mark this momentous occasion, the Society will be giving back to the wider local community through some unique and exciting funding projects.

For the first stage of the celebrations, the Society launched the ‘Community Acorn Fund’ to give back to community groups and projects throughout the local geographical area. A £25,000 funding pool was allocated across the Society’s branch and agency network, and local community groups were invited to apply for funding.

The second stage of the celebrations is the ‘Lasting Legacies’ project which covers areas across a wide spectrum of society including Health, Children, the Environment, Homelessness and Sport. The Society is working in close collaboration with a number of local and national bodies to fund projects of great, lasting need. Details of the specific projects will be announced over the coming months.

Chief Executive, Andrew Lewis, commented: “The Society has recently experienced another exceptional year of business and growth. Our members remain at the heart of what we do, and their ongoing loyalty has been a major contributor to this outstanding achievement. We offer a heartfelt thank you to all of our members who have helped the Society reach this landmark financial position.”

He continued: “We are delighted to be able to celebrate our momentous achievement through a series of community-focused projects. As a regional mutual organisation, we take particular pride in our ongoing commitment to the local communities in which we operate, and look forward to spreading some much needed funds to many worthwhile projects across South Wales.”
