Risca Branch Staff Win Prestigious Pride of Gwent Award10 April 2017
We’re thrilled to share that three members of staff from the Society’s Risca branch were successful at the South Wales Argus Pride of Gwent Awards.
The staff members, Catherine Probert, Louise Davies and Julie Sheldon were nominated by Maria Saunders, Regional Team Manager, who described them as ‘inspiring’.
The team have been visiting a housebound customer for 19 years to help him carry out his banking transactions. This small act is his lifeline, allowing him to stay independent and helps to ensure that he is safe and well, especially in bad weather. You can find out more in the video above.
The team also use their lunch breaks to visit another customer who has been unable to drive for a year to help him with his banking and bring him any shopping or other items he might need.
These unsung acts make the world of difference to both individuals who are able to live independently in their own homes and it’s something we, as a member owned business, are immensely proud of.
Commenting on the win, Catherine Probert, Risca Branch Manager said: “I’m thrilled that we’ve been recognised for these small, ongoing acts which has been a pleasure for us. We had no idea we were even nominated so the win has been a complete surprise. I’m so happy that it might serve to inspire other members of the community to do something, however small, to reach out and help others as it really can make the world of difference to people’s lives.”
To congratulate the Risca branch staff and many other inspiring members of our local communities, a ceremony was held on 31st March at the Coldra Court Hotel by Celtic Manor. Congratulations to everyone involved!
