Gwent Young Cricketers Sponsorship

The Society has affirmed its commitment to supporting young cricketers across the unitary authorities of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen by continuing to sponsor Gwent Young Cricketers.

Gwent Young Cricketers oversee the development of young cricketers under the age of fifteen, dividing them up into four age appropriate main squads. They are also keen to promote the inclusivity of cricket by offering sessions specifically for girls aged under 13 and under 15.

The Society is committed to supporting the social and cultural life of communities in which it operates and such support is given to a number of organisations and activities, from sport and music, to theatre and the environment.

Sponsorship from organisations such as Monmouthshire Building Society is vital for the survival of Gwent Young Cricketers, especially when considering that it costs approximately £60,000 per year to fund all of the youth cricket activities throughout the whole of Gwent, of which only 25% is funded by grants.

Ted Tipper, Fixture Secretary and Treasurer of Gwent Young Cricketers commented on the ongoing sponsorship: “The support from Monmouthshire Building Society has been vital in maintaining the support we offer young cricketers across the whole of Gwent. The sponsorship goes directly towards funding the Monmouthshire Building Society Youth Cricket League, the Cricket Shield and the Under 13 and Under 15 Championships.”

Andrew Lewis, Chief Executive of Monmouthshire Building Society commented: “The Society is committed to supporting and giving back to the local communities in which it operates. We are proud to have sponsored the Gwent Young Cricketers since its inception some 21 years ago and, in doing so, helping to support the future stars of Welsh and British cricket. We wish the young cricketers a very successful 2014 season.”
