FAQs
A

A building society Cash ISA is a savings account where you don't pay tax on the interest. Each tax year you can put in up to £20,000 across your ISAs. The interest you earn is always tax-free (subject to regulation changes).

You can find out more about paying tax on interest from savings on the government website: https://www.gov.uk/apply-tax-free-interest-on-savings.

A

An instant access Cash ISA lets you take money out whenever you need it while still earning tax-free interest. It's a simple option if you want savings you can dip into without penalties.

A

Yes. MonBS has an exclusive cash ISA for existing customers. It offers a competitive tax-free rate and allows one free withdrawal a year, making it useful if you usually leave savings untouched but want the reassurance of access if needed.

A

A limited access Cash ISA gives you a higher rate of tax-free interest in return for restricting how often you withdraw. If you stay within the set number of withdrawals, you keep the full rate. Go over the limit, and the rate will drop for that period depending on the product.

A

Yes, our fixed rate Cash ISA locks in your interest for a set term, usually 1 to 5 years. You'll know exactly what you'll earn over that time. It's best suited to lump sums you can leave untouched, as withdrawing early usually means losing some interest.

A

Yes. A notice Cash ISA pays a strong rate of tax-free interest if you're happy to give notice before making a withdrawal (such as 35 days). It's a good choice if you don't need immediate access but still want flexibility.

A

Yes. You can open MonBS ISAs online, in-branch or agency, or through our app. You can also manage payments and withdrawals the same way, depending on the account rules.

A

Yes. You can move an ISA from another provider into MonBS and keep all the tax-free benefits. Transfers can come from a Cash ISA or from a stocks and shares ISA. Your savings will carry on earning interest without losing the tax advantages.

A

Yes. All MBS savings accounts, including ISAs, are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £120,000 per person. This gives our building society savers peace of mind that their money is protected.
