Marian Evans, Chair of Monmouthshire Building Society, named as Non-Executive Director of the Year at Institute of Directors Awards Wales
The non-executive director category recognised individuals who have made a significant contribution to an organisation’s strategy and corporate governance, while also impacting the company’s financial success.
The IoD of the Year Awards celebrates the achievements of outstanding business leaders in Wales, and those shortlisted have been chosen for their innovation, leadership and excellence in business.
Marian Evans said of her win: “Just to be nominated was an honour, but then to take away the win was truly humbling.
“Above all the win is testament to the fact that leadership potential is not determined by privilege, or where you start but by integrity, resilience and determination. It is also a celebration of how important non-executive directors are to the Board team and the success of large organisations and businesses such as a Building Society.”
The IOD Wales judges praised Marian’s “outstanding stewardship” and said that: “Marian has guided the Society through record performance alongside major strategic and technological transformation. Judges recognised her ethical leadership, governance expertise and ability to balance challenge with support.”
Will Carroll, CEO of Monmouthshire Building Society, said of Marian’s win: “I was so proud to be there on the afternoon and see Marian get this very prestigious award.
“She is integral to the growth and transformation strategy that we’ve been going through and will continue to do so in the coming months. Personally, she’s a wonderful colleague and confidante and I am so pleased that the IOD recognised her in this way, for the contribution she brings to our Building Society every day.”
