Risca branch support local senior citizen group

It's great to see local community groups benefit from the Society's Branch Sponsorship Fund.

Recently, our Risca Branch opted to support Risca Senior Citizen's Association with a new PA system to help them deliver talks to their members. The number of people accessing the group has grown considerably since the start of the pandemic with membership tipping 60 strong. With the new PA system, voices are able to carry around the room for all to hear.

Maureen Gingell, who leads the Association, said, “We are so happy to have the support from Monmouthshire Building Society. The Risca branch understand the need to get involved with all areas of their community and help out where they can. I no longer need to strain my voice to project to the back of the hall which is great.”

In addition to the financial support given, Branch Manager Mathew Llewellyn has also agreed to pop along to the Associations hub and carry out some painting to freshen up the meeting space on Park Road, Risca.

Mathew Llewellyn, “We are more than happy to help the Risca Senior Citizens Association. The work Maureen and her team do in the local community is invaluable for getting people out and about, socialising and improving their mental well-being.”

Since launching the Branch Sponsorship Fund in July 2021, Risca branch have supported Gwent Gators American Football team, the Pontywaun County School Memorial Garden and Happy Tots parent and toddler group.

Great work team Risca!

If you’re a grassroots group operating in a community where the Society has a branch, why not apply for sponsorship at your local branch from May 1st 2022.
