Society announces new Affinity Instant Account partner

Supporters of the Dragons can now support the region further, without having to dip into their own pocket.

The Society has launched a new Affinity Instant savings account in partnership with the Dragons. Supporters of the Dragons can open the new Affinity Instant account to build up their savings with a competitive rate of interest.

Each year, the Society will make a donation to the Dragons Academy, equal to 1% of the balance held in all the accounts opened. The more supporters save, the more funds the Academy will receive.

Dan Goulding, Product Development Manager at the Society, said: “We are delighted to offer Dragons fans the opportunity to support their team by opening a Dragons Affinity Instant savings account with Monmouthshire Building Society.

“The Society recognises the benefits of actively supporting the local community and this account allows Dragons followers to use their savings to earn interest for themselves, while giving a generous annual donation to their favourite team at the same time. As part of our support for grass roots rugby in South Wales, we already sponsor the Dragons and are pleased to be able to partner with them in this way.”

The Dragons, born out of the regional shake-up in 2003, have given more than 10 academy players first-team debuts this season, with current first-team players including; Hallam Amos, Ollie Griffiths, Elliott Dee and Tyler Morgan all earning Wales caps having come through the Academy.

Bernard Jackman, Dragons Head Coach, commented: “We’re delighted to partner with Monmouthshire Building Society to launch a Dragons Affinity Account for supporters to be able to invest their savings. The Society have faith in us and share our vision for the future of the Dragons, so to extend the partnership with an offering for supporters is a great idea.

“By opening a Dragons affinity account, Dragons supporters can save for their own future whilst supporting the future Dragons stars at the same time. The money raised from these savings accounts could play a vital role in supporting us to produce more fantastic young players that have progressed through our pathway in recent years such as Elliot Dee, Ollie Griffiths, Leon Brown and Aaron Wainwright.

“We aspire to produce an Academy and Development Programme that will be the envy of all teams around the country and provide an oversupply of home-grown talent capable of succeeding for the Dragons as well as for Wales.''
