Society named as Partner for First ABP Newport Marathon
The Society has teamed up with Run 4 Wales as a Partner for the first ever ABP Newport Marathon and 10k, which takes place on Sunday 29thApril 2018.
Formed in 1869 by local businessmen in Newport, the Society has always looked to give back to the local community through a range of initiatives, including our Charitable Foundation and Charity of the Year. Our commitment to supporting local organisations was further demonstrated in August 2017, when we became the main sponsor of professional rugby club ‘The Dragons’.
Dawn Gunter, The Society’s Chief Operating Officer, commented on the announcement; “The Newport Marathon and 10k presents a fantastic opportunity not just for the Society, but for the City of Newport.
“The Society has been a part of the Town/City of Newport since 1869, so to be a partner for such a fantastic event only further strengthens that connection.
“The event will see thousands of people flood to the city to both participate and to watch, and I’m sure they will all be given a warm welcome.”
The Society will also have a keen eye on both races, with members of staff running in both the marathon and 10k. Staff will be raising funds for the Society’s Charity of the Year, All Creatures Great and Small.
