Background and Career
During her Executive career Sam was a corporate human resources director with over 30 years’ experience. She held a number of senior positions across the retail and financial services sectors including Group People and Corporate Affairs Director at Royal London, the UK’s largest mutual life insurance and pensions company.
Through both her executive and non-executive career, Sam has extensive experience of the operation of governance committees Sam is currently a Non-Executive Director at British Friendly and the Medical Protection Society where, at both, she also Chairs the Remuneration Committees. She has also been a trustee of UK and Irish pension schemes, a Council member of Aberystwyth University and a trustee at Meningitis Now
Skills and Experience
Having completed her Master’s in Business Psychology at the University of South Wales, she has a particular interest in leadership development, culture and organisational change.
Sam is delighted to join Monmouth Building Society, an organisation she first encountered when she opened her now adult daughter a savings account to encourage her to save rather than spend her birthday money. From that first encounter she has always been impressed by the strong customer and people focused culture of the organisation.
