Beverley Flood appointed as new Head of People

The Society (MBS) is delighted to announce the appointment of Beverley Flood as our new Head of People, leading both our Human Resources and Learning and Development teams (HRLD).

This new appointment will ensure the Society continues to develop a transformational People team that supports colleagues to thrive in both their personal and professional lives.

Since joining MBS back in April 2021, Beverley (Bev) has worked passionately to reshape the Society’s approach towards HRLD.

Over the past two years, Bev has led the Society’s departure from a transactional HR function towards a more modern people partner service that seeks to understand and respond to the needs of colleagues, members, and communities, whilst also supporting the sustainability of the organisation.

With over 21 years experience in Human Resources, Bev is a Chartered CIPD member committed to ensuring the Society is adopting both best practice and excellence across the HRLD function to support our colleagues, managers, and leaders.

Society CEO Will Carroll said, “Bev has been a trusted confidant and advisor to the Society’s Executive Leadership team since joining the Society in 2021. Her influence and people first approach are visible across the business, from bringing forward and developing the people partner service to redefining our ways of working. I’m delighted to see the impact she has made and will continue to make with the excellent support and leadership of our Chief Operating Officer, Dawn Gunter.”

Dawn Gunter added, “Bev is a leader with vision and determination. She has a unique ability to influence with evidence, insight, and compassion, and she has helped bring the whole Society (including our Leadership team) on the people first journey.

I’d like to personally thank Bev for her unwavering support and commitment during a period of transition, as I welcomed HR and LD teams into the COO directorate.

Bev lives and breathes our values and is committed to colleagues, members, and communities. I’m excited to see Bev further develop and embed our colleague experience over the coming years and leave her mark as a transformational leader.”

A proud Newportonian, Bev lives locally with her husband, 2 children and mini-Schnauzer. She is a devoted advocate for her community, giving her time as a Community Governor for Gaer and Maesglas school, and supporting several third sector organisations as a Non-Executive Director.

Beverley Flood, Head of People, said, “I’m proud to be leading the HRLD team through the next stage of the Society’s strategic pathway. These are transformational times, full of change, challenge, and opportunity for colleagues. Over the coming months, I’m looking to forward to deepening our understanding and improvement of the colleague experience. We’ve made great progress with our Colleague Forum over the past 18 months, including introducing our enhanced benefit package for colleagues and launching our new ways of working. I’m looking forward to building on what we’ve achieved with greater insight and collaboration across the whole business.”
