Society appoints Inspirational Woman of the Decade, Marian Evans, to the Board of Non-Executive Directors

Marian Evans has an impressive 22-year career in financial services and business consultancy, winning the Women in Business award for Inspirational Woman of the Decade in 2019 and the Women in Financial Advice award for Mentor of the Year in 2018.

Marian’s career began at NFU Mutual, where she rapidly reached the top of her profession to become the youngest female sales manager in the country, looking after a portfolio in excess of £54 million by the age of 30. Following her appointment to Head of Risk at Thomas Carroll Plc, Marian went on to start her own business consultancy, Elevate BC, where she provides executive coaching and leadership and management support on an individual basis.

Talking about her appointment, Marian said, ''I am delighted to join the MBS board. Steeped in history, but with an ambitious outlook it is an exciting time for the business. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a dedicated team.''

As the fourth woman selected for the Monmouthshire’s Board of Directors, Marian’s appointment has increased gender diversity at Board level to 44%, well above the UK average of 37% for financial services.

Debra Lewis, Chair of the Board said, ‘We are delighted to welcome Marian to the Society and we're excited for the contribution she will make in supporting us to achieve our ambitious 5-year strategy for the benefit of our members and community. Marian’s skills and experience will further strengthen our position as a modern mutual and the financial service of choice for local communities.’

The Monmouthshire Building Society is undergoing an exciting period of innovation to put the society at the forefront of modern financial services whilst retaining its ethos of community relevance and care.

During the pandemic the Society has remained open and expanded their provision with a new branch in Brecon, to ensure all members have access to cash and financial services on the high street.
