Society is shortlisted at The Mortgage Awards 2022
The awards will take place on the 5th May at The Waldorf Hilton, London and will be the first in person event since 2019, recognising the work of mortgage lenders and providers in the UK.
This is the first time the Society has been nominated for Building Society of the Year and is up against six other UK building societies in this category. The category for ESG Initiative is a brand-new award for 2022.
Chief Operating Officer, Dawn Gunter, said of the nominations, “We are thrilled to be recognised in both categories, the mutual sector is going from strength to strength, so it’s a privilege to be sharing the short list for Building Society of the Year with such good company. We are also incredibly proud to be recognised for our Branching into Communities initiative which we launched in June 2021, framing our community work through an ESG lens.”
The Society’s Branching into Communities programme incorporates a brand-new Branch Sponsorship Fund and a colleague volunteering scheme, giving every colleague up to 14 hours of paid volunteering leave to support their local community. The new initiatives complement existing community work including a Charitable Foundation with a 21-year pedigree and a charity partnership with Shelter Cymru, scheduled to last until 2026.

This recent recognition follows the Society winning the Community Services Award at Mortgage Introducer’s event in January 2022.
