Community Acorn Fund Launched to Celebrate Financial Milestone

4 July 2014

Community Acorn Fund

This year, the Society hits a major financial milestone – one billion pounds in assets. To mark this momentous occasion, we will be giving back to the wider local community through some unique and exciting funding projects.

For the first stage of the celebrations, the Society has launched the Community Acorn Fund to give back to community groups and projects throughout the local geographical area. A £25,000 funding pool has been allocated across the Society’s branch and agency network, and local community groups are invited to apply for funding.

To coincide with the launch of the Community Acorn Fund, the Society has launched a dedicated website, which can be found at, and provides full information and guidance on how to apply. Application forms are available from the website, and from any Monmouthshire Building Society branch or agency office. The deadline for applications to be received is 30th September 2014.

Chief Executive, Andrew Lewis, commented: “The Society has experienced another exceptional year of business and growth, despite the ongoing challenges to the wider financial industry. The forthcoming achievement of a billion pounds of assets is something we intend to celebrate through a series of community-focused projects.”

He continued, “As a regional mutual organisation, we take particular pride in our ongoing commitment to the local communities in which we operate, whether via our Charitable Foundation, corporate sponsorship, or individual fundraising activities throughout the year. The Community Acorn Fund will allow our customers and communities to play an active role in our celebrations, and gives us the opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our members who have helped the Society reach this landmark financial position.”
