Sparkle Appeal Supported by Ongoing Partnership

8 July 2015

Charity Support Sparkle

The Society is pleased to have presented a cheque for over £6,000 to the Sparkle Appeal thanks to our ongoing Affinity Instant Savings Account partnership.

The Sparkle Appeal was launched by South Gwent Children’s Foundation in 2000, and supports children and young people with a disability or developmental difficulty living in Newport, South Monmouthshire and South Torfaen and their families. Sparkle are based at the Serennu Children’s Centre in Newport, and provide facilities and activities for recreation, leisure, sport and family engagement.

The centre provides integrated care for local disabled children and their families, through treatments, therapies, support and advice, and a wide range of family, leisure and social activities, such as family swimming sessions, after school clubs and independent living skills, all under one roof.

Supporters of the appeal can open the Affinity Instant Account to build up their savings with a competitive rate of interest. Each year, Monmouthshire Building Society will make a donation to the appeal equivalent to 1% interest per annum of the daily balance held in their account. The more supporters save, the more money the appeal will receive.

Lisa Pearson, Sparkle’s Business Development Manager, (pictured above with Victoria Newsway, Newport City Centre Branch Manager) commented: ‘“We are extremely grateful for the Society’s continued support via the Affinity Account which has helped to raise an incredible amount of money so far and has allowed us to complete a range of projects that we would not otherwise be able to offer. The donations are vitally important to ensure that our essential services are able to continue.”
