Correction to Errors Sent in Recent Correspondence

31 May 2016

As part of the Annual Savings Statement mailing which was recently sent out to customers, the Society also enclosed a copy of a document entitled ‘Summary of the Changes to our Terms and Conditions for Savings Accounts’. Unfortunately, this document contained two errors as follows:

  • 1.) On the front of the booklet it incorrectly stated the following:
‘The changes to the General Terms & Conditions will take effect from 1 August 2016. If you are content with the changes, you need take no action; we will assume that you have accepted them. If you are unhappy with any of the changes you may at any time up to 20th July 2016, close your account or transfer your money to another account with us. You may do this without giving us any notice or incurring any charge or loss of interest that would otherwise apply under the Specific Terms & Conditions. If you are considering closing your savings account or if you have any questions on the new terms and conditions please contact your branch or agency or telephone us on 01633 844340.’

The date contained in the paragraph above, 20th July 2016, is incorrect and should read 6th August 2016.

  • 2.) Page 3 of the booklet incorrectly states:
Young Savers (Young Persons Savings Accounts)

Currently under the Specific Terms & Conditions for our Young Savers Account, where the saver reaches the age of 18, the account has to be transferred to another account with us. This is changing so that the account, as an alternative, can be closed and its balance transferred to an account with a bank or another building society.

The age stated in the paragraph above (age 18) is incorrect and should read age 21.

We felt that it was important to let our customers know about these errors and apologise for any inconvenience this might have caused.
