Remortgaging - A Quick Guide

As you already own and are living in the property, the process for remortgaging is much more straight forward than buying a new property. However you will still need to:

1. Talk to us about your needs so you can find out how much we will lend you in principle.

2. Complete an application.

3. We will then check your credit, income, expenditure and identity (this is a legal requirement).

4. We can appoint a solicitor to act on your behalf (unless you wish to use your own solicitor, for which you will be responsible for paying any charges).

5. We will have the property valued to make sure it is worth enough to cover the remortgage.

6. If the outcome of our enquiries is satisfactory, we will make you a Mortgage Offer.

7. The solicitor carries out the necessary legal duties and arranges for the mortgage loan
to be used to pay off the mortgage with your existing lender.

If you would like to know whether the Society would, in principle, be prepared to consider your mortgage application, you can submit our online Mortgage Decision in Principle Form or speak to one of our Mortgage Advisers on 01633 844351, who will be pleased to help.
