Thank you for sending us your application for one of our savings accounts.
Upon receipt of your application, we will try to verify your identity electronically. This is required by law to verify the true identity of all new and existing customers. Identity checks are an important part in the fight against fraud and other criminal activities.
If the electronic search is successful, we will send out written confirmation of your new savings account details together with an online signatory form for you to sign and return to the Society.
If we are unable to verify you electronically, prior to opening your new savings account we will write out to you to request two forms of identification. For more information, please look at our Proving Your Identity leaflet.
If you have any questions, please contact the Savings and Customer Contact team on 01633 844 340.
If you would like to make withdrawals to an external account that is not held with Monmouthshire Building Society, we will require you to nominate a bank/ building society account.
You can designate one account which we will use to facilitate withdrawals from all of your Monmouthshire Building Society accounts where you are registered as the primary holder. This account must be based in the UK and must be held in the same name as the Monmouthshire Building Society account holder(s).
As part of our Financial Crime procedures to reduce the risks of money laundering and fraud and to protect our members against financial crime, we will need to verify your account. We will attempt to verify your account electronically however if the search is not successful, we will contact you to request an original bank statement which displays your name, address, and account number. Original bank statements will be returned via 2nd class post on receipt of this form.
You can send us details of your nominated bank/ building society account using our online Nominated Bank Account form.
