Bupa Fundraising Marathon

A devoted member of the Society’s IT Department took part in the BUPA Great South Run this October.

Nick Hayward, IT Department Assistant Manager, ran on behalf of one of the Great South Run’s official charities, Diabetes UK.

The BUPA Great South Run took place in Portsmouth on 26th October 2014, and is the premier 10 mile race in the UK - regularly attracting over 25,000 runners.

Nick is no stranger to competitive running, and took part in the UK’s largest 10K along with 40,000 other participants at the Great Manchester Run back in May. The Great South Run took place a mere three weeks after Nick ran in the Cardiff Half Marathon.

Nick said: “I was thrilled to take on the challenge of BUPA’s Great South Run, especially since it allowed me to do something I thoroughly enjoy whilst also raising money for a charity I care deeply about.”

He continued: “Diabetes UK is the leading charity that cares for, connects with and campaigns on behalf of every person affected by or at risk of diabetes. There are currently 3.8 million people in the UK with diabetes, including an estimated 850,000 people who have Type 2 diabetes but do not know it.”
